Fall Baseball is open to Reading residents and surrounding town Little Leaguers
age 12 and under. Our goal is to register enough participants to field 4
divisions of play: 50/70, Advanced, Intermediate, Beginner.
Reading Little League wants to ensure that there is fun, safe, and competitive
play at every level, so we are requesting assistance from parents on selecting
the most appropriate level during registration. Reading Little League will
review parent’s recommendations and determine appropriate placements. Please do
not sign up for a division that is above your child’s skill level as this can
make for a bad experience for your child and their teammates. If you need
advice as to which division to sign up for please ask your player agent or
spring league director.
50/70 Division
This division will primarily consist of 12 year-olds who played Majors, as well
as some 11 year-olds who played Majors during the Spring. Games will be played
on a larger infield with the pitching rubber at 50 feet instead of the usual 46
and the distance between bases at 70 feet instead of the usual 60. The rules
allow for leading, pickoffs, dropped third strikes, balks, etc.
Players at this level are preparing to move up to the next stage of baseball on a
full-sized diamond (Reading Babe Ruth). Pitching in this league can be as fast
as 70MPH.
Advanced Division
This league will consist primarily of 9 and 10 year-olds. The rules will be consistent with those of the
Reading Little League AA/AAA Division. Players should expect to see pitching in the 40-50 mph range.
This league will consist primarily of 7 and 8 year-olds. The rules will be
consistent with those of the Reading Little League Single A Division. Players
should expect to see pitching in the 30-40 mph range.
Beginner Division
This division will primarily consist of Little League 6 and 7 year-olds (based on 2023 Little League Age Calculator). It is intended for
newer players or those who would like to play in a coach-pitch environment (run
similarly to the Reading Little League Summer Sandlot and Reading Little League Rookie Division)
