Reading Little League uses a "call up" system to support a teams ability to field a full lineup of 9 players when player
absences would otherwise make that impossible.
If a team is short players (less than 9), the manager should make plans prior to the game to call up a player from the division directly below the division of the impacted team. Managers should contact their division Director to arrange recruitment of replacement players. Managers or coaches in need of a call up player should not reach
out to other coaches, parents or players from another division directly. Using available players from other teams in the same division is not permitted during the spring season.
Players that are called up should be placed at the bottom of your batting order
and are not permitted to pitch for their call up team. Every team should have at least one extra jersey that can be used by the call up player. If more than one call up player is required, a similar color athletic jersey or shirt can be worn.
If your division Director is unable to arrange for replacement player(s), the Director will consult the division specific rules on minimum required players. Please see division specific rules for more details.
